House Worship

House worship is normally a small gathering of believers meeting in a home to praise and worship the Lord together. Yesterday, because Makinna and mommy were still feeling yucky with this cold, we skipped our trip to our village church we normally attend and had house worship.
We sang Christmas songs to start things off (because you can never start too early learning the words to those when you are only 2, 4, & 6 years old!) After those we did some hymns and other chorus. Then I taught them to story of Zachariah, Elizabeth and John (the Baptist). As I was teaching them all about him and who he was and about his job as herald for Jesus I was struck anew with the realization that is what we are here, as well. We are out of our comfort zone, we look kinda funny (we don't wear scarfs when its over 65 degrees), we eat funny foods (we cook our hamburger meat and don't eat it raw, we love pb & j and we don't eat horse), and we difinitely sound funny (with our American accents). We are kinda like little Johns. We are here calling these people out of darkness into light, calling them to the Savior.
Even when things are tough and little girls are telling Aubrie that they won't be her friend, and I see that it hurts her. We can remember that this world is not our home, we aren't here to make friends we are here to make disciples. Praise God that it is He who does the saving. Sometimes, we just have to be willing to open our mouths and speak the joy He has given us.
It was an encouragement to me, and hope it might be to you, as well.

We are praying for you and are encouraged by your faith and perserverance during times of trials and heartaches. I know the Lord is definitely blessing and edifying you to be in the hard place you are right now, and these trials will only bring you closer and build your character to make you more complete in Him. (as it says in James 1)
